| when you finally find one that you want to own. To find great cars with low mileage be prepared to go nationwide. And search all internet sites everyday without fail. I looked for 8 months before I was able to close a deal on a car that I wanted. For $17k you should be able to find a car with around 25,000 miles. I came close to buying one with 13K for $19,000. Ebay auctions often create opportunties to buy cars because people set reserve prices far too high. For example, this is how I found my car. Reserve was around 21 or $22,000. After the auction I bought it for $18,750 (21,000 miles). Another example, bidding on a TT with less than 30k just ended a 1PM PDT today. It received a $13,300 bid but the reserve was not met. Now is a perfect opportunity to negotiate with the seller. Also on ebay right now is a 96TT with 29k miles. Current high bid is $16,000. Reserve has not been met. Now is the time to contact that seller and start talking about what he will let the car go for once bidding is over. He could very well sell it for 18 or $19,000, maybe less. Relatively inexpensive cars, in great shape with low miles. are out there but be prepared to look far and wide. You need to act fast, too, but never buy w/o having a thorough inspection done first.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.
